A good quality antique violin made by a mysterious maker Rudolf Raymond, clearly an established craftsman who had a very good hand for making instruments, however detailed descriptions of his life and work cannot be found in the violin making literature. Henley's describes his work as of unknown origin but skilled workmanship.
This violin is nicely crafted, being fully blocked and lined, the scroll and corners are black lined which make the elegant curvature of the scroll and the outline of the violin really stand out. The back is made from a lovely piece of flamed maple and the edge work is magnificent.
The tone is full and well rounded.
The length of the back is 360 mm.
